Why a hay feeder with a litter box?

Rabbits love eating hay, but they scatter it all over the cage. The "Benio" hay feeder solves this problem - hay is served through the bars, and leftovers fall into the tray instead of onto the cage floor.

This way your customers save hay and cleaning time, and the rabbit has constant access to fresh food.

How to choose a hay feeder for a rabbit?

A good rabbit hay feeder combines a hay rack with a litter tray, is made of untreated wood that is safe to gnaw and serves hay through bars without scattering it around the cage. Check the dimensions - Benio (56 x 34 x 10.5 cm) fits standard cages for mini and medium rabbits and guinea pigs, and it takes a moment to assemble, with no tools needed.

Who is it for?

The "Benio" hay feeder is ideal for:

  • Mini and medium rabbits
  • Guinea pigs
  • Breeders and pet shops (B2B)

The product pairs naturally with our organic cat grass - young winter wheat is also safe for rabbits and guinea pigs, so both products complement each other on the small animal shelf. Live cat grass is currently available to customers in Poland only.

Which B2B customers do we work with?

Pet shops

Brick-and-mortar shops with a small animal section. The hay feeder complements hay and grass - a customer buying food immediately sees a solution to the scattering problem.

Pet store chains

Chains with regular deliveries to many locations. Individual pricing, combined deliveries with cardboard scratchers and cat furniture.

Wholesalers and distributors

Pet product wholesalers supplying smaller shops. Larger quantities and attractive purchase prices directly from the manufacturer.

Online pet stores

Online stores with small animal products. The product is light and travels well - ready for courier shipping without extra protection.

How to get a rabbit used to the hay feeder - 4 steps

  1. Place the feeder in the corner of the cage the rabbit already uses as a toilet. Rabbits naturally relieve themselves in one place - it is easier to match the feeder location to the animal's habit than the other way round.
  2. Fill the rack with fresh hay. Rabbits often eat and relieve themselves at the same time - combining a hay rack with a litter box uses this reflex and speeds up learning.
  3. Move a few droppings from the old spot into the tray. The smell tells the rabbit that this is its new toilet. The first days are a time to get used to it - do not punish the animal for mistakes.
  4. Empty the tray every 1-2 days and top up the hay daily. A clean tray and fresh hay reinforce the habit. Clean the wooden parts dry, without detergents.

Frequently asked questions

Which animals is the Benio hay feeder for?

The Benio litter box hay feeder is designed mainly for rabbits, but it also works well for guinea pigs and other small rodents. Its construction follows the natural eating habits of these animals.

What wood is it made of?

The hay feeder is made of natural, untreated wood that is 100% safe for animals. Precision CNC production ensures consistent quality and a careful finish without sharp edges.

Why does a rabbit need constant access to hay?

A rabbit's teeth grow throughout its life at 2-3 mm per week and must be worn down by chewing. Constant access to hay and grass also helps prevent gut stasis (GI stasis), one of the most dangerous conditions in rabbits. A hay rack with bars serves hay continuously and keeps it clean.

How do I order wholesale?

Send us an enquiry by email (export@kot-w-butach.pl) or call +48 41 260-65-66. We reply in English, send the wholesale price list and agree the terms of cooperation. We work with business customers only: pet shops, pet store chains, wholesalers and online stores. Payment terms are agreed individually.

Why is the wood untreated?

Rabbits naturally gnaw on the wooden parts of their cage, and impregnants, varnishes and glues can be toxic to them. Untreated wood is safe to chew and also helps wear down their constantly growing teeth.

How do I clean the hay feeder?

Simply empty the plastic tray and wash it with water. Clean the wooden parts dry, with a brush or a vacuum cleaner. Do not soak the wood or clean it with detergents, because it absorbs moisture and the smell of chemicals.

How much hay does a rabbit need per day?

Hay should make up about 80% of a rabbit's diet, and the daily portion is roughly the size of its body. A feeder that keeps hay from spilling and getting dirty therefore really reduces food waste.

Is cat grass also suitable for rabbits?

Yes. Our organic cat grass is young winter wheat grown without chemicals, and it is also safe for rabbits and guinea pigs as a fresh addition to a hay-based diet. Live cat grass is currently available to customers in Poland only.

What is the minimum wholesale order?

We agree terms individually with each business customer. The minimum order is low: you order by the carton and can mix different products in one shipment, for example hay feeders with cardboard scratchers and cat furniture. We sell wholesale only, we do not sell to consumers.
